How do I get volunteers to help with my high school's 50th Anniversary Reunion? How does anybody get volunteers for any function today? We live in an era of liability insurance, lawsuits and skepticism so asking people to give of their time, no matter how little, is a daunting task. I booked a committee meeting last night and only 1 person bothered to show up, from a list of over 6ooo possible alumni. Everybody wants to see the reunion happen, but nobody wants to put any effort into it. Not too sure how they think it will happen...
I've also been running a local support group for the last 3 years with the hopes and aspirations of turning it into an actual not-for-profit charity group. The fear has been that it might not happen if I'm the only one who has had the energy to do anything. That has only recently changed, with a couple people finally coming forward to help. Sooner or later I wouldn't have had the energy to carry forward if nobody else stepped up to the plate.
These things have not been for a lack of trying to find people either, I've asked...I've even pleaded with some because that's how important I feel these things are.
I just don't know what else I can do...giving up is just not an option for me.
